ISCA has commissioned Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) to conduct a study of the economic costs of physical inactivity in Europe, focusing on six key countries (UK, France, Italy, Germany, Poland and Spain). The complete study results will be presented on 17.06.2015 in Brussels through a Cafe Crossfire debate.

Some key facts from the commissioned research:

  • The lack of lack of exercise causes half of million deaths in Europe, and that is per year.
  • The lack of exercise causes diseases that cost Europe over 80 billion Euros each year.
  • Did you know that 1 of every 4 Europeans are affected by mental ill health? Staying active can reduce the effects of depression, anxiety, low self-esteem.

If only 1 in 5 people took up exercise we would:

  • Save lives. We would prevent over 10 000 deaths per year. That is one life saved every 5 minutes.
  • Save money. Annual savings would be 16.1 billion Euros.

Exercise and sport are great for health, but simply moving more is what matters most. Take action now and support the cause of moving!
